Forest Gate at Huntley Glos
This is the
Homepage of Maureen and Dick Blakemore of Forest Gate, Huntley Glos GL19 3EU,
Telephone and Fax No 01452-831192. Our e-mail address is
forestgate@huntley-glos.demon.co.uk. The
principal object of the web-site is to provide information about our camping
site. Additionally we are pleased to
provide web site and e-mail facilities to the undermentioned organisations. Please click on the name of the area that is
your interest.
Ground Conditions
Due to the generally dreadful
conditions prevailing through most of the last camping season, I intend to make
a brief note here whenever the situation gets difficult through this
season. Readers may safely assume that,
in the absence of a note here, or if the note is old (over 3-4 weeks old),
ground conditions are acceptable and should not present difficulties to the
average camper/caravanner.
The
ground is now reasonably dry, and although we did have some concerns through
the May Day Bank holiday, it has survived very well. We expect that there will be no further
problem (famous last words!!)

We offer superb camping
(and caravanning) facilities in the grounds of Forest Gate. This operates independently of the house from
a ‘log cabin’ in the grounds. Forest
Gate is licensed as a camping site by the local authority for 25 'units'. Full
details of the facilities available, some photos of the grounds, directions for
travelling by road or public transport and costs are included on these
pages.
Please note due to an unpleasant episode over the last Easter Holiday,
we only accept dogs by arrangement;
details are on our pages.

The
Richard Whittington Lodge No 7534
The Richard Whittington
Lodge No 7534 in the Province of Gloucestershire under the Grand Lodge of
England is a prestigious Masonic Lodge founded in 1957 primarily for serving
and retired Service Officers and professional people. However as the number of the ‘target’ group
continues to diminish the Lodge has widened its scope and is now always
delighted to discuss membership with local men looking for a Lodge which offers
the sort of friendship which can only be experienced in a small Lodge. E-mail address for the Lodge is r.whittington@huntley-glos.demon.co.uk.
More details of the Lodge are on these pages.
Gloucestershire Masonic Housing Project
The Gloucestershire Masonic
Housing Committee administers and controls retirement flats which were purchased
by the Provincial Grand Charity of Gloucestershire to provide housing for
persons in need of accommodation in the county.
Although the flats are intended in the first place for Freemasons and
their dependants or widows, this is not exclusively the case. E-mail address:- housing.committee@huntley-glos.demon.co.uk. More details are on these pages.
St John the
Baptist Huntley Restoration Appeal Fund
The Restoration Appeal Fund
for the Parish Church of St John the Baptist was inaugurated in 1997 and
formally launched in 1998 with a view to raising about £160,000.00 for the
repair and restoration of this most important Victorian building. People who are interested in Victoriana in
general and the works of S S Teulon in particular will want to read these
pages. Whilst we are no longer involved
in the day-to-day activities we undertake to pass on any contacts to the
current Committee. Whilst the major
part of the funds originally required has been raised, as so often happens
there have been a series of additional (and urgent) requirements which have
surfaced, making the need for more funds just as important. The e-mail address
for the Fund is:- appeal.fund@huntley-glos.demon.co.uk.
Huntley Relief in Need Charity
The Huntley Relief in Need
Charity is a very ancient Registered Charity, starting out its life as ‘The
Huntley Poor Lands Charity’ in about 1647, and has continued in its own small
way to this day. A full history is
included in its pages. The e-mail address
is:- relief.charity@huntley-glos.demon.co.uk.
The Royal Air
Force Lodge No 7335
The Royal Air Force Lodge
No 7335 is the premier Masonic Lodge for serving and retired Royal Air Force
and Royal Flying Corps (not many left!) officers. Details are on these pages.
